This is so very late but we have had a lot going on this week. My photography business picked up faster than I thought so I have been working on edits for prints! Anyway…back to my baby and his half birthday!
Dear little Cole,
This past month you have been so explorative! You reach for things and nine times out of ten you’re able to succeed in grabbing the item you are reaching for. Your little eyes are always watching me as I go about my daily routine. I’ve started talking to you about what I’m doing and you will just stare in amazement. The expression on your face lets me know you are listening and learning. I may sound silly talking to you about folding daddy’s clothes or doing the dishes but you are learning the words and what they mean.
My mornings with you are my absolute favorite part of my day. I roll over and there you are jabbering away at me or daddy. You love grabbing at your little feet now. In fact you do it quite often. I talk to you about what we are going to do through the day while you giggle at me with your gummy smile.
We have just started introducing you to a few foods. Okay just a couple. Watermelon and cucumber. Yesterday was your first experience with cucumber. Mommy was snacking away and your natural instinct to want to eat kicked in and so I handed you a slice. You made no awkward faces or anything because you were very much delighted at it’s taste! I even tried to pull it away from you and you immediately got upset so I gave you a fresh piece. I’m so glad that you like these fresh foods. I’m very happy with my decision to skip pureed baby foods. You will learn as you grow up that fresh fruits and veggies is whats best for your little growing body, not over processed cereals and jar foods.
Your favorite thing to do is take a bath. I’m sure if I let you, you would stay in there for hours. You’re just starting to sit up on your own which has made bath time much more fun. You love animals just like mommy! The cats will rub up against your little feet and you will giggle and kick your feet around. Our Basil beagle will lick your toes and you respond in kicks and squeals. Speaking of squeals you are on a totally new speaking level. You talk all the time now, baby talk that is. It’s so sweet.
You have certainly grown at an incredibly fast rate this past month. What will you surprise us with at month 6 baby Cole?
At six months Cole is…
.: Baby talking :. He can say ba, ma, ya, urrr, and he roars occasionally.
.: Sits up:. He can hold is own chubby little body up, for the most part. He will sometimes tobble over but he will just land himself in a crawling position.
.: Switch toys from hand to hand :. He looks so grown up when he handles a toy. He looks at it closely as if he is examining a rare jewel or something.
.: Eating big people food :. He will gum on watermelon and now cucumber. The Dr. and I butted heads about me putting him on purees but I stood my ground. Cole is learning to feed himself the big people way, not gumming on old people food. He can pick the cucumber up and put it into his mouth just perfectly as I can!
.: Still Nursing :. I’m so excited about this. Me and Hayden did not make it that long. I was ill informed and quit after three months because of some discomfort. Cole is very much still in love with my boobs.
.: Mimics :. Cole can mimic what mommy, daddy or big brother does. Tim stuck his tongue out at him and now Cole sticks his tongue out with daddy is around.
He will grab my face and kiss me because that is what I do to him all the time!
.: Rolling over both ways :. he isn’t doing it regular yet but I’ve seen him roll off his tummy unto his back two times!
.: Backwards scoot :. He is just showing signs of crawling however he is doing it backwards. He will push up on his arms and scoot backwards.
He has made incredible progress! We love you little Cole. Happy SIX MONTHS!!
Every morning I put Cole into his swing so that I can get Hayden’s lunch made for school. As I was making Hayden’s lunch I hear “Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba!” Little Cole actually made a sentence. Yes I call this a sentence because normally he will just say “Maaaaa” like a sheep or something. This time he actually did a sound consecutively. It sounded so weird coming from him because I’m not used to hearing him make so many different syllables.
So far I have heard: Ma, Ba, Da, Ya…..or he will just roar with “uh” and “oo”
Oh little Cole, you make mommy proud!
He wriggles and squirms, wines and cries then does some rubbing of the eyes. Little Cole has just started entering this behavior into his daily nap routine.
It makes it hard to put him down. It’s funny though because I too wiggle around before I can fall asleep.
